This was unexpected......

The Family

Poor Mike...

Kyle, Conner, Garrett

So on Thursday night, Mike was painting his shop (Man Cave). He decided that it would be a good idea to clean out the spray gun-and when he was doing that he hit the trigger on the gun and cut his finger open a little bit and some of the cleaning solution got into the cut. He didn't think much of it-but he cleaned out the cut and went on with the night. It started to hurt him really bad. He said that on a scale of 1-10 he was at a 9-10 in pain. His finger started turning black. We finally decided to take him to the emergency room at 3 A.M. on Friday morning. He thought that the doctor was going to laugh at him for coming in and wanting some pain meds for a little cut in his finger-Little did we know.....

So the doctor looked at it and immediately said that he needed to be prepped for surgery right away. As you can imagine-we are both in shock at this point-we were definitely not expecting surgery for a little cut on his finger.

They said that it is kind of like a rattlesnake bite-They had to get out all the poison so that it would not travel up the arm and into the heart-if untreated they said it could be fatal.

The doctors had to cut open his finger and into his palm to clean out the "poison" from the cleaning solution that had gotten into the cut.

The doctor basically cut it open and left it exposed-right now it is all wrapped up but not stitched up-last night they came to change the bandages and gauze and Mike saw the bone and everything in that finger.

On Monday they have to do surgery again to make sure that everything is out of the palm-and then hopefully they will stitch everything up and we can go home...

We are so surprised at all of this-I hope that Mike has a full recovery and that all will be well. We are so thankful for family and friends! Thanks for coming and seeing Mike-It means a lot to us to have so much support.

Wow! That is crazy! I am glad you took him in but not so glad he has to have his hand gaping open for days. That doesn't sound like fun. I was hoping to see you at the reunion to visit... so I hope you can sneak away from Mike for a bit! Hope he gets better!

I can't believe a tiny cut could turn into all that. Good thing Mike had his little nurse to nurse him back to health, hehe . . .
